Access the Internet on your BlackBerry Tour 9630 smartphone

To determine why you can't access the Internet on your phone, verify that:

  • All icons are showing. From the Home screen, press the Menu key, then select Show All.
  • Your phone is connected to the Sprint network. To do this, check the top right of the screen for signal bars. You can also go to the Manage connections icon on the main menu to verify and turn your connection on and off.
  • Your Sprint plan includes data service, which is needed to browse the Web. Check your bill and make sure you have one of the following plans:
    • Simply Everything
    • Sprint Power Vision BlackBerry Pack
    • 10MB BlackBerry Email and Web
    • Unlimited BlackBerry Email and Web
    • Worldwide BlackBerry Data Plan
  • Your phone has been provisioned and registered:
  1. From the Home screen, select the Options icon
  2. Select Mobile Network
  3. Press the Menu key and select Start Provisioning or Update Profile. Wait for the phone to provision. You will receive a notice when provisioning is complete.
  4. Return to the Options menu
  5. Select Advanced Options
  6. Select Host Routing Table
  7. Press the Menu key, then select Register Now. You will receive a notice when registration is complete.
  8. Return to the main BlackBerry page. The Internet browser icon should now be displayed.
  • The theme on your phone is accurately showing the Browser icon. To do this, change your theme back to the default theme and ensure that the Browser icon appears.
  1. From the Home screen, select the Options icon
  2. Select Theme
  3. Select Precision Sprint
  • You have the IPPP for BIBS service book installed on your phone. If you are missing the BIBS service book:
  1. Register your phone with the Sprint network again. Refer to the above provisioning and registering instructions.
  2. Send a new copy of the IPPP for BIBS service book to your phone. To do this, contact Sprint and request that a new service book be sent to your phone.
  • The Browser application is installed on your phone. If it's not, you will need to install it:
  1. Connect your phone to a computer with Blackberry® Desktop Manager installed.
  2. Open the Blackberry Desktop Manager
  3. Select Application Loader
  4. Select Next
  5. Select the check box for the Browser application.

NOTE: If the Browser application is not listed, close the Application Loader tool, update the Blackberry Device Software to the latest version available from Sprint, and then repeat steps 1 to 5. For instructions on how to upgrade the Blackberry Device Software, click here.

  • Your IT department has not blocked the required service books with an IT policy. If they have, request that a blank or unrestrictive IT policy be sent to your phone. This will unblock the service books required to use the browser application.
