What is Sprint Wi-Fi Calling?
Sprint Wi-Fi Calling is a free service for Android-powered smartphones that gives you the ability to make and receive phone calls and send and receive texts over a wireless internet connection instead of the Sprint network. After setup, Sprint Wi-Fi Calling is seamless, giving you access to your voicemail, messaging and calling.

What is the advantage of Sprint Wi-Fi Calling?
Because you’re calling and texting over a Wi-Fi network instead of the Sprint network, your activity won’t count against any minute, text or data limits on your Sprint plan. Sprint Wi-Fi Calling enhances coverage in buildings and other locations where signal strength might be poor.

Does Sprint Wi-Fi Calling work international?
Not at this time, but support is planned in the future.

What does Sprint Wi-Fi Calling cost?
Sprint Wi-Fi Calling is a free service to Sprint customers with a compatible Android smartphone.

What phones support Sprint Wi-Fi Calling?
Sprint Wi-Fi Calling is currently supported by the following Android smartphones:

Samsung Galaxy S® 5
Samsung Galaxy Mega
Samsung Galaxy S® 4
Samsung Galaxy S® 4 mini
Samsung Galaxy Note® 3
HTC One® Max

Do emergency services work with Sprint Wi-Fi Calling?
Because Sprint Wi-Fi Calling is a Voice over IP service that sends calls over the Internet, it’s important to note that 9-1-1 works differently than a regular 9-1-1 call on the Sprint Network.

When you make a 9-1-1 call with a Sprint Wi-Fi Calling-enabled phone, your phone will first attempt to complete your call like any other 9-1-1 call on the Sprint Network.  If wireless coverage is not available, your phone will try to complete a 9-1-1 call over Wi-Fi.  Because of this, it’s important to always make sure you have an accurate address registered to each Wi-Fi access point you use for Sprint Wi-Fi Calling.

If you would like to order a reminder sticker for your phone that explains how the 9-1-1 process works with Sprint Wi-Fi Calling, please contact Care by dialing *2 from your Sprint phone or 844-665-6327.

What happens if I lose my Wi-Fi connection during a call?
If you lose connection to your Wi-Fi network while on a Sprint Wi-Fi Calling-enabled call, your call will disconnect and you will have to redial.

Are there any minimum requirements for my network to support Sprint Wi-Fi Calling?
You must provide your own Wi-Fi connection.  It may be private or public.  Minimum throughput for a quality signal is 86kbps.

What else do I need to know?

  • Here are some quick facts to help you out.
  • This service will only function over approved Android devices.
  • User must register for the service via the device
  • Once service is activated, user must select which access points (APs)/Wi-Fi networks will be authorized to use Sprint Wi-Fi Calling.
  • Until launch of International WiFi calling the service is only allowed in US, US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.  Usage from other locations is not approved and will not be supported.
  • Use of VPNs to avoid this restriction is a breach of terms and conditions and is not supported.
  • The same account/feature rules apply (for example blocked or forwarded numbers) across both the Sprint network and Sprint Wi-Fi Calling.
  • Sprint Wi-Fi Calling cannot be used if your phone’s Hotspot feature is active.
