Find and update the software version on your BlackBerry Curve 8350i smartphone

Just like your computer, the software on your phone needs to be updated periodically to make sure you have all the latest fixes and enhancements to keep it running at optimal performance. Follow the steps below to check your current version and perform any needed updates.

Check the version on your phone
To find the software version on your BlackBerry® Curve™8350i smartphone:
- From the Main menu, scroll to and select the Options (wrench) icon
- Select About
- The software version will be listed in the format of X.X.X.XXX
Update your software
Note: The 5.0.0.807 update is not available Over the Air (OTA) directly to your phone.
To update your BlackBerry Curve 8350i through your computer:
- Go to our Curve 8530i download site to get the download file
- Find the software version you need and click More Details
- Scroll to the bottom and select Download
- A pop-up box will ask you to either Run or Save the download; choose Save and save to your computer desktop
- Once the download is saved, double-click the file that was saved to your desktop and when the dialog box appears, click Run
- Select the appropriate language and click OK
- Click Next and select the appropriate Country or Region
- Click Next and select I accept the terms in the license agreement
- Click Next and the installation process will begin
- Click Finish
- Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager by going to Start > Programs > BlackBerry > Desktop Manager
- Once the Desktop Manager is open, connect your BlackBerry Curve 8350i to your computer using the USB cable and make sure the Desktop Manager shows Connected in the top left
- If the Application Updates Available window appears, click Update Now and select the check box for BlackBerry Device Software 5.0
- Click Next
- On the Device Backup screen, choose whether to automatically back up the data on your BlackBerry 8350i or to Not back up the data
- Note: It is recommended that you back up your data before proceeding
- Click Next
- Click Finish to begin loading the BlackBerry Desktop Software to your Curve 8350i
- Important Note: Do not unplug the phone while the update is loading
- Click Close when the software is finished loading
