Find and update the software version on your Palm Pixi

Just like your computer, your phone's software needs to be updated periodically to make sure you have all the latest fixes and enhancements to keep it running at optimal performance. Even though Palm will send your Palm® Pixi™ automated notification that allows you to accept software installations or delay until later, you can follow the steps below to check your current version and perform any needed updates.

- Corrected if speed dial pressed too long resulting in message Unable to Connect. No free lines

This update addresses the following:
- Calendar: blank calendar items will no longer show up
- Sprint TV: a handling error has been fixed so applications will no longer loop and you can exit out of the error dialogue; the synchronization issue has been resolved; SMS messages will now recognize Sprint TV links
- Calling: the issue with hard pause dialing has been resolved

The following features have been added:
- Alerts: you can now customize alerts in messaging (assign ringtones to alerts)
- SMS: the ability to forward SMS & MMS messages has been added
- Google: you can now select contacts to add and link to separately rather than having to link/sync to all Google contacts
- Wireless Network: you can now select a wireless network from your phone
- WebOS Doctor: will not erase the USB drive data
- Media Sync: you can now use key combination (OPT + U + Sym) buttons to access media sync if the screen is inaccessible
- Yahoo! Synergy integration: Calendar and Contacts has been added to the Yahoo! Synergy integration
- Date & Time: you can now set the date and time manually
- Data Transfer Assistant 1.3 update has been added

Check the version on your phone

To find the software version on your Pixi:

  1. Open Device Info from the launcher menu
  2. Scroll down to view Version and Configuration
  3. Tap Version to see Build information

Update your software

Note: You will be automatically notified of updates when they are available; however, if you would like to manually check for updates for your Pixi over the air:

  1. Open Updates from the launcher menu; the phone will automatically check for updates
  2. If an update is available, tap Download Now
  3. You can dismiss the app after it starts, as the update will download in the background
  4. After the update is downloaded and validated, you will be prompted to install it; tap Install Now. Note: Installation time will vary and you will not be able to use your device during this time. As the screen warns, it is important that you do not pull the battery while the device is updating.
  5. After the installation is complete, the phone will restart and the message Update Installed will appear
  6. Tap Done

Note: You will receive a notification when an update is ready to be installed and have the choice to Install Now or Defer. If you choose to install the update, you will receive a notification warning that you will not be able to use your device while the update is taking place. If you choose to defer, the next time you charge your device, you will receive a prompt to Install the update now or Defer. If you do not make a choice, the installation will take place in 10 minutes. You will receive a notification warning that you will not be able to use your device while the update is taking place. You can also defer indefinitely and choose not to receive the update.
