Find and update the software version on your Samsung Instinct

Just like your computer, the software on your phone needs to be updated periodically to make sure you have all the latest fixes and enhancements to keep it running at optimal performance. Follow the steps below to check your current version and perform any needed updates.

Check the version on your phone
To check the current version, perform the following steps:
- From the Home screen, touch the Main tab, located at the bottom of the screen
- Touch Settings
- Touch General
- Touch Phone Information. Under Version, on the second line of text, the software version is listed in the format SW:XX.XXXX XXXX. For example, if your device is loaded with software version BE09, the second line of text appears as SW:ES.M800 BE09.
NOTE: The software version shown above is for example only and may not reflect the most current version on your device.
Update your software
To update your phone, perform the following steps:
- From the Home button, touch the Main tab, located at the bottom of the screen
- Touch Settings
- Touch General
- Touch Update Software. The message Checking for software update. Please wait appears.
- When prompted, install the update after it has been downloaded to your device.
NOTE: Upon completion of the update, the message Device configuration has completed appears.
