Find and update the software version on your i776 by Motorola

Just like your computer, the software on your phone needs to be updated periodically to make sure you have all the latest fixes and enhancements to keep it running at optimal performance. Follow the steps below to check your current version and perform any needed updates.

R8E.00.05 12/3/2010 This update fixes:
- SIM status not clearing
- Multi-media messages (MMS) getting stuck in outbox
- Deletion of SMS Service Center number
R8E.00.04 5/15/2010 This update fixes:
- Occasional inaccurate GPS fixes while using Trakit GPS application
- Phone freeze or reset when accessing animated site
- Radio no service issue
- Reset issue when receiving Group Connect call

 This update addresses the following:
- Enables a tracking location to acquire GPS fixes while you are engaged in an interconnect call
- Improves consistency between accessory PTT behavior and handset PTT behavior for One Touch Direct Connect feature
- The “Server Not Responding” error will no longer display during a silent PUSH request for Device Registry
- The Java issue that was causing the phone to reset has been resolved
- When using the Vcard Bluetooth profile an extra character will no longer display at the end of Hebrew names
- Latin characters in MMS messages will now decode properly
- Ringtones that were being sent from another handset or Bluetooth device will no longer sound distorted
- The display will no longer go blank when closing the flip after returning a call to a number that was in an SMS message
- HTTPs connectivity is now working as designed

To check the version on your i776 by Motorola:

  1. From the idle screen, press # * Menu and the Right Key next to OK in rapid succession
  2. Select Unit Info, and then press OK
  3. Select Software, and then press OK
  4. The software version is listed in the format R8E.XX.XX
