Fix an issue when you receive Sprint: Please Press the Sync Button alert on your Palm Centro when using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync

If Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync® (Outlook®) email has been started using the Palm VersaMail® email application, you may receive an alert reading Sprint: Please press the Sync button in the Reminder listing of your Palm® Centro™.

This message is sent after three failed attempts to auto-sync email, contacts or calendar, alerting you to manually sync Exchange ActiveSync. There is no issue with your smartphone. This message is provided as part of the smartphone's functionality to conserve battery life.

Note: The inability to auto-sync can be due to a variety of reasons such as being in roaming status or on a roaming network out of the coverage area. It is not due to email application errors or smartphone issues.

To manually sync your phone from the alert message:

  1. Tap the alert message to go to the email application
  2. Tap the Sync dialog box

You can extend the number of auto-sync attempts to 10 by updating the VersaMail application directly on your Centro smartphone. To update the VersaMail application:

  1. Open your web browser
  2. Enter the following URL into the address bar:
  3. Select Go
  4. Follow the onscreen prompts to download and install the update
