Last Updated: Nov 18, 2013

Note: The necessary software and drivers are automatically installed when you insert the USB modem into the computer. Provided that the data plan subscription and ESN have been established in the Sprint billing system, you can simply install the software and click Yes when prompted to activate.

Installing the USB modem
To install and run the Sprint Mobile Broadband USB modem and accompanying software, your system requires Mac OS X version 10.4.11 or higher. To check the Mac OS version number, click the Apple in the upper-right corner of the desktop and select About This Mac.

To install the USB modem, perform the following steps:
Note: Installation and activation may require you to be logged in with administrative privileges.

  1. Connect the USB modem to the computer's USB port.
ALERT: Do not plug the USB modem into a USB hub.
  2. A window may appear with the installation file Sprint SmartView Installer.mpkg. Double-click the file to start the installation.
  3. In the set up dialog box, click Continue.
  4. Follow the prompts, accept the terms of the License Agreement, click Agree, and then Continue.
  5. Click Install.

Note: If Admin protection is enabled on the Mac, you will be prompted to input your Admin password. After the installation is complete, a Sprint SmartView icon will appear on the desktop and you will be prompted to restart.

Activating the USB modem
To activate the USB modem, perform the following steps:

  1. Double-click the Sprint SmartView icon on the desktop. Automatic activation launches and a window appears explaining that the device is not currently activated.

Note: If hands-free activation is available, Sprint SmartView will report that hands-free activation has started. Simply wait until completion and then connect to the internet. Otherwise, the One Touch Activation dialog box will appear.

  2. When the One Touch Activation window appears, click Yes to activate. Wait a few moments. During this time, Sprint SmartView may display the message Preparing Services followed by Please wait.
  3. Once the activation process completes, you may be prompted to connect. Click Yes to connect.
