Program your AirCard 595 by Sierra Wireless

Last Updated: Nov 18, 2013

Note: Before programming your device, make sure you have activated your account and configured your Aircard® 595 by Sierra Wireless.

There are three parts to programming and activating your device:

  • Installing the Sprint Connection Manager
  • Installing the Sierra Wireless AirCard 595 drivers
  • Card activation and provisioning

Installing the Sprint Connection Manager

NOTE: Users of Windows 2000 need to be logged in with administrative privileges to install the Sprint Connection Manager software. Users of Windows XP may insert the card prior to installing the software. You may also require administrative privileges, depending on your XP installation.

ALERT: Do not insert the AirCard 595 connection card until the Connection Manage software is installed on the computer.

To install the Sprint Connection Manager:

  1. Quit all open applications before you begin installation.
  2. Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. The Sprint Connection Manager software automatically determines your computer's operating system. The CD should auto-start and display a menu. NOTE: If the CD does not auto-start, select Start, select Run, and then enter d:launch.exe (where d is the letter of your CD-ROM drive).
  3. From the CD start-up window, select Install Sprint Connection Manager to launch the InstallShield Wizard.
  4. In the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard screen, click Next.
  5. In the License Agreement window, click I Accept to accept the agreement and proceed with the installation, and then click Next.
  6. In the Ready to Install the Program screen, select Install.
  7. Click Finish to complete the installation, and then launch the Sprint Connection Manager. NOTE: For Windows 2000 users, the computer may need to be manually restarted. To do so, click Start > Shutdown > Restart.

Installing the Sierra Wireless AirCard 595 drivers
To install the Sierra Wireless AirCard 595 drivers:

  1. Insert the AirCard 595 connection card into the Type II PC Card slot. Windows detects the new hardware (Sprint Connection Card) and installs the necessary drivers.
  2. The Add New Hardware Wizard or Found New Hardware Wizard launches depending on your operating system.
  3. Follow the onscreen prompts to allow the Wizard to install the drivers.
  4. When notified that the installation is complete, click OK.
  5. If you purchased a pre-activated Sprint Connection Card, the card is ready for use. Otherwise, continue with card activation and provisioning.

Card activation and provisioning
To activate and provision your card:

  1. After the software and driver installations are complete, the software detects the characteristics of the card. NOTE: If you close the Activation Wizard before finishing the card activation and provisioning process, the Activation Wizard can be found at Menu > Settings > Sprint Vision/Activation Wizard from within the Connection Manager.
  2. Using the mouse, select and click Next to proceed with the activation process. The windows describe the process.
  3. Enter the one-time 6-digit code or secondary 6-digit code in the bottom entry space provided, and then click Next.
  4. Enter the MDN and MSID in the spaces provided and click Next.
  5. A confirmation box displays. Click Proceed if the information is correct.
  6. Click Finish to complete the activation process. NOTE: Provisioning will start immediately after activation. Expect to wait up to four hours for your device to begin working. If the provisioning process does not complete within five hours, contact us.
