You can use these programming instructions if you have a new phone or a used phone activated by a previous owner, and you have completed the Activate your new phone process in My Sprint. If so, you should refer to the page you printed showing the codes you need for these instructions to work.
To program your phone:
-
Find the serial number for your device. It appears in two places:
-
By the barcode sticker on the end of the box, labeled ESN or MEID.
-
Underneath the battery in the device, to the right of the barcode sticker.
NOTE: If you have already completed the Activate your new phone screen, continue with Step 2.
-
If you have removed the battery from your device, place the battery back in.
Press and hold the Power/End key to turn the device on. Verify that the
screen shows the correct date and time. NOTE: The first time your
device turns on, it automatically begins the initialization and calibration
process.
-
Press the green Send key to access the dial pad menu screen. If the Phone
Off message appears, press the red End/Radio Off key. This turns
the phone functionality on.
-
If you have a new phone, a phone that has never been activated, use the
following the instructions:
-
Press ## followed by the one-time 6-digit code located in the Programming
Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page, followed
by an additional # symbol. (For example, if your one-time 6-digit code
is 123456, you would enter ##123456#. The last # symbol entered will not show
on the display.)
-
If you have a previously activated phone, a phone that is new to you but not
brand new, use the following the instructions:
-
Press ## followed by the secondary 6-digit code located in the Programming
Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page, followed
by an additional # symbol. (For example, if your secondary 6-digit code
is 123456, you would enter ##123456#. The last pound # symbol entered
will not show on the display.)
-
With the stylus, tap the Edit menu. The Activation Wizard screen
appears.
-
With the stylus, enter the 10-digit MDN, located in the Programming
Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page. To use
the keyboard, slide out the bottom keyboard - this is called the QWERTY
keyboard.
-
Press the Lock Fn key twice to enable the keyboard number lock
function. Fn appears in the lower-right corner of the display screen.
-
Tap the MSID text box, and then press the Back key to delete 000000.
-
Tap Digits, and then enter the 10-digit MSID. At the bottom of the
display, tap OK.
-
From the Save Changes dialog box, tap Yes. A dialog box appears,
prompting you to reset the device. NOTE: It may take a few moments for
this prompt to appear.
-
Tap OK. The device resets, and programming is complete.
NOTE: It can take up to four hours to complete the activation process and for your phone to begin working. If the provisioning process does not complete within five hours, contact us.
