Program your BlackBerry 8830 World Edition smartphone

You can use these programming instructions if you have a new phone or a used phone activated by a previous owner, and you have completed the Activate your new phone process in My Sprint. If so, you should refer to the page you printed showing the codes you need for these instructions to work.

Note: Call (888)226-7212 - Option 2 to activate International Roaming.

To program your phone:

  1. Insert the battery and if device is off, press the power button on the top of the device.
  2. Roll the trackball to the Manage Connections icon and click the trackball to select it.

    Note: If the Manage Connections icon doesn't appear on the Home Screen, press the Menu key and then select Show All.

  3. Verify that Mobile Network has a checkmark by it. If not, scroll to Mobile Network and click to select it.
  4. Press the Menu key to close the menu and then press the green Phone key.
  5. If you have a new phone that has never been activated:
    • Press ## followed by the one-time 6-digit code located in the Programming Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page (Example: ##123456) and press the green Phone key
  6. If you have a previously activated phone:
    • Press ## followed by the secondary 6-digit code located in the Programming Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page (Example: ##456789) and press the green Phone key
  7. In the CDMA Service Edit Screen, scroll to the Mobile Directory Number field. Use the Delete key to delete the default numbers, then enter your 10-digit phone number (MDN) from the Programming Details section on the Activate your new phone page.
  8. Scroll to the IMSI_S field and replace the default numbers with the 10-digit MSID number from the Programming Details section on the Activate your new phone page. Scroll to Save and click the trackball.
  9. The phone displays Write Successful. Resetting device. The phone will restart which takes approximately 2 to 3 minutes.
  10. When the device powers up, a progress screen Verifying Security Software appears momentarily and voice programming is complete.
  11. The small 1x visual indicator changes to a large 1X and if you're within EVDO network coverage, the indicator changes to a large 1XEV.

Note: It can take up to 4 hours to complete the activation process and for your phone to work. Contact us if the provisioning process does not complete within 5 hours.
