Program your HTC Touch Diamond

Last Updated: Nov 18, 2013

You can use these programming instructions if you have a new phone or a used phone activated by a previous owner, and you have completed the Activate your new phone process in My Sprint. If so, you should refer to the page you printed showing the codes you need for these instructions to work.

To program your phone:

NOTE: If you have already entered the Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID) in the Activate Your New Phone page online, skip to Step 2.

  1. Find the MEID on your phone. There are 3 places you can find it:
    • Underneath the battery in the phone on the right side of the barcode sticker: Turn off the phone and remove the battery. The serial number is listed on the phone next to ESN DEC or ESN HEX. Then place the battery back into the phone.
    • By the barcode sticker on the end of the original box: Labeled ESN DEC or ESN HEX.
    • From the Dial Pad screen, tap Menu, and then tap Device Information. The ESN is displayed. Tap OK located in the upper-right corner to return to the Dial Pad.
  2. Turn your phone on by pressing and holding the Power key. The Power key is located on the top of the phone. NOTE: If this is the first time you are powering on the device, you need to digitize the screen. Once you see the Start/Today screen, continue with the next step.
  3. The phone will connect to the network and begin the activation process.
  4. When the activation is completed, a confirmation message displays and the phone will turn off and then back on again. Your phone is now ready for voice and data use. NOTE: If you receive an error code 1012 at this point, tap OK.
  5. Tap the Start button next to the Windows icon located at the upper-left corner to display the menu options.
  6. Tap Settings.
  7. Tap the System tab located at the bottom of the screen.
  8. Tap the Update Profile icon. NOTE: If a Data Cannot Connect message appears, tap Dismiss.
  9. The following message will appear: The network is preparing your service. Please wait. Do not interrupt this process. Once completed, the device will return to the Setting tab. NOTE: If the screen goes into sleep mode you can tap the screen to wake up the device, but do not hold down the End key as it will interrupt the process.
  10. Tap the X in the upper-right corner to return to the Today Screen. Programming is complete.

Manually programming your phone

To manually program your phone, perform the following steps:

  1. Tap the Phone button once to display the Dial Pad.
  2. If you have a new phone that has never been activated:
    • In the Dial Pad screen, Tap # #, tap the one-time 6-digit code located in the Programming Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page, and then tap # again. (Example: ##123456#.)
  3. If you have a used phone that has previously been activated:
    • In the Dial Pad screen, tap ##, tap the secondary 6-digit code located in the Programming Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page, and then tap # again. (Example: ##123456#.)
  4. Tap Edit.
  5. Tap the MDN text box. Tap Menu located at the bottom right of the screen, and then tap Edit.
  6. In the Phone Number (MDN) text box, using the keyboard, enter your 10-digit phone (MDN) number located in the Programming Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page. NOTE: You may need to tap abc once to switch to the number pad.
  7. Tap OK.
  8. Tap the MSID text box. Tap Menu, and then tap Edit.
  9. In the Phone Number (MSID) text box, using the keyboard, enter your 10-digit phone (MSID) number from the Programming Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page.
  10. Tap OK.
  11. Tap Yes to update the items.
  12. Tap OK to reset the device. Your phone will power off and then back on again.
  13. After 4 hours, tap the Start button, and then the Opera Browser to complete the activation of the Web service.
NOTE: It can take up to 4 hours to complete the activation process and for your phone to begin working. If the provisioning process does not complete within 5 hours, contact us.
