Program your Kyocera Echo

You can use these programming instructions if you have completed the Activate your new phone process in My Sprint. Your confirmation e-mail or Programming Instructions page will have any codes you may need for these instructions to work.

Note: If you are programming a phone that was previously activated on our network and used by another customer, please follow the Program a Used Phone steps below.

Program a Brand New Phone

  1. Turn your phone On by pressing and holding the Power button on the left side of the phone
  2. The phone will contact the network and automatically provision/activate
  3. You will see the message Hands Free Activation, Contacting network
  4. Once activation is complete, you will see the message Your device has been activated. Tap OK to continue. Tap OK
  5. Your phone will check for a PRL update and download it if available; tap OK to continue
  6. Next your phone will check for a Firmware update and download it if available; tap OK to continue
  7. Once updates are complete, the phone will power off and reboot
  8. When the phone returns to the lock screen, you can finish setting up your phone and it is ready to use

If your phone did not activate successfully when you turned it on for the first time, complete the following steps:

  1. If programming is not successful on the first attempt, you will see a Waiting for retry… message
  2. Tap Activate
  3. On the Sprint Zone page, tap Activate My Device
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to finish activating your phone
  5. Once activation is complete, the phone will power off and reboot
  6. When the phone returns to the lock screen, you can finish setting up your phone and it is ready to use

Program a Used Phone

Note: If you are programming a phone that was previously activated on our network and used by another customer, please follow these steps.

Important Note: These steps will permanently clear out all previous programming and account information. If you want to keep the contacts and apps previously installed on the phone, follow the Device Reset steps below.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Phone icon to bring up the dial pad
  2. Press ## followed by the 6-digit code followed by an additional #. Example: ##123456# (The last # entered will not show on the display)
  3. Tap Edit
  4. Tap Mobile Directory Number (MDN) to select and tap OK
  5. Tap the MDN field to bring up the virtual keyboard and enter the 10-digit MDN; tap OK
  6. Tap the MSID field to bring up the virtual keyboard and enter the 10-digit MSID; tap OK
  7. Make sure the MDN and MSID numbers are correct and tap Done
  8. The phone will power off and reset automatically
  9. Once the phone has rebooted, it is activated for voice only; to enable data, go to Menu > Settings > System updates > Update Profile

Device Reset steps

Use these steps only if your phone was previously activated on our network and you want to keep the contacts and apps on the phone.

  1. Turn the phone On by pressing and holding the Power button on the left side of the phone
  2. Tap the Phone icon to bring up the dial pad
  3. On the phone dial pad, press ##72786#
  4. On the Enter MSL Code screen, tap the MSL field to bring up the virtual keyboard and enter the 6-digit code (Example: 123456); tap OK
  5. At the Warning prompt, tap Yes
  6. The phone will reboot and begin activation. Note: If the phone has not been set up in your billing system, you may want to click Cancel.
