Last Updated: Nov 18, 2013

You can use these programming instructions if you have a new phone or a used phone activated by a previous owner, and you have completed the Activate your new phone process in My Sprint. If so, you should refer to the page you printed showing the codes you need for these instructions to work. NOTE: When operating your phone, use the 4-way Navigation key to scroll, press the center of the 4-way Navigation key to select, and press the Undo/Back arrow key, which is opposite of the Home key, or the side button to delete.

To program your phone:

  1. Locate the Electronic Serial Number (ESN) for your phone.
    • To locate the ESN for your phone, turn off the phone and remove the battery. The ESN is beneath the battery on the right side of the barcode sticker.
    • If the ESN cannot be located beneath the battery, it can be found within the Phone Settings menu.
    • Press the Home key.
    • Press the softkey below Start.
    • Scroll to and select Settings > More > Phone Settings.
    • Scroll to the ESN field. The ESN Hex is listed directly after 0x.
  2. If your phone is turned off, press and hold the red Power/End key for 2-3 seconds.
  3. If you have a new phone, a phone that has never been activated, follow the instructions below:
    • Press ## followed by the one-time 6-digit code, located in the Programming Instructions section of the Activate your new phone page, followed by an additional #. (Example 6-digit code: ##123456#. The last # entered will not show on the display.) NOTE: For the pound (#) symbol, simply press the G key.
  4. If you have a previously activated phone, a phone that is new to you, but not brand new, follow the instructions below:
    • Press ## followed by the one-time 6-digit code, located in the Programming Instructions section of the Activate your new phone page, followed by an additional #. (Example 6-digit code: ##123456#. The last # entered will not show on the display.) NOTE: For the pound (#) symbol, simply press the G key.
  5. Press the green Call/Answer key.
  6. Scroll to and select Edit.
  7. Enter the phone number. NOTE: There is no need to hold down the number lock key. The field is defaulted for numbers.
  8. Press the softkey below OK.
  9. Enter the MSID.
  10. Press the softkey below OK.
  11. Scroll to and select Done.
  12. If prompted to reset the phone, press the softkey below OK.
