Last Updated: Nov 20, 2013

Hands-Free Programming Steps

  1. Turn on the phone by pressing and holding the Power button at the bottom right of the phone
  2. The phone will begin setup and will contact the network and automatically activate
  3. Once complete, you will see the message Your device is now active; tap Restart to reboot your phone
  4. You will be prompted to update the PRL; tap OK to continue
  5. You will then be prompted to update the Firmware; tap OK and you will return to the set up screen
  6. Once set up is complete, you will be returned to the home screen, and your Samsung Intercept™ is ready to use to make calls and access data

One-Touch Programming Steps

If your phone did not activate successfully when you turned it on for the first time, complete the following steps:

  1. If you see a Retry message and tap Manual, you will be taken to the Device Self-Service screen:
    • Tap Activate My Phone
    • When prompted to update the PRL and firmware, tap OK to continue
  2. If you are at a screen showing a could not be activated error:
    • Tap Cancel
    • At the Home screen, press Menu then tap Settings
    • Flick up, then tap About phone
    • Tap System Updates > Update Profile
    • You will see the message Device Configuration - The network is preparing your service. Please wait. Do not interrupt this process. If the screen goes into sleep mode, you may tap the screen to wake up the phone. Do not hold down the End key, as it will interrupt the process.
    • Once completed, tap OK and the phone will reboot
    • When prompted to update the PRL and firmware, tap OK to continue
  3. Once the phone has rebooted, you will be at the lock screen; drag up to unlock and your Intercept is fully activated and ready to use

Manual Programming Steps

You can use these programming instructions if you have a new phone or a used phone activated by a previous owner, and you have completed the Activate your new phone process in My Sprint. Please refer to the page you printed showing the codes you need for these instructions to work.

  1. Find the ESN/MEID on your phone. The ESN/MEID can be found in two places:
    • Underneath the battery in the phone on the right side of the barcode sticker; turn off the phone and remove the battery to view
    • On the Barcode sticker on the end of the original box, labeled DEC-HEX
  2. From the Lock Screen, drag up to unlock
  3. From the Home screen, tap Phone
  4. Enter ## followed by the 6-digit one-time programming code you received during online activation, followed by an additional # (Example: ##123456#) Note: The last # entered will not show on the display
  5. Tap Edit
  6. Tap Touch Here to edit the Phone Number
  7. Use the QWERTY or virtual keyboard to type the 10-digit MDN, then tap Return
  8. Use the QWERTY or virtual keyboard to type the 10-digit MSID, then tap OK
  9. With the correct MDN and MSID entered, tap Done
  10. Your phone will reboot
  11. After the phone reboots, open the Web browser to update the data profile
  12. Your Intercept is now fully activated and ready to use
