Manual Programming Steps

You can use these programming instructions if you have a new phone or a used phone activated by a previous owner, and you have completed the Activate your new phone process in My Sprint. If so, you should refer to the page you printed showing the codes you need for these instructions to work.

To program your phone:

  1. Find the serial number on your phone. This appears in two places:
    • Underneath the battery in the phone, to the right of the barcode sticker. Skip this step if you have already entered it in the Activate your new phone screen.
    • By the barcode sticker on the end of the box, labeled DEC-HEX. Note: This should only be used as a backup method, as the box and phone do not always match.
  2. Place the battery back in your phone and press and hold the End/Power key to turn the phone on
  3. Verify the screen displays the correct date and time
  4. If you have a new phone, a phone that has never been activated:
    • Press ## followed by the one-time 6-digit code, followed by an additional #. Example: ##123456# (The last # entered will not show on the display)
    • The Service Menu screen will be displayed, highlighted on View
  5. If you have a previously activated phone, a phone that is new to you but not brand new:
    • On the dial pad, press ##786 followed by an additional # symbol
    • Select Reset
    • Enter the secondary 6-digit code
    • Select Reset
    • If the message Reset the phone manufacturer's default? appears, select Yes
    • Press OK to reset the phone to the manufacturer's default
    • After the reset, press ## followed by the secondary 6-digit code, followed by an additional # symbol. Example: ##123456# (The last # entered will not show on the display)
  6. Scroll to Edit, and press Menu/OK
  7. Enter the 10-digit MDN, and press Menu/OK
  8. Enter the 10-digit MSID, and press Menu/OK
  9. From the Service Program screen, scroll to Done, and press Menu/OK. The phone will automatically turn off and back on again.
  10. To confirm the activation, make a phone call, and confirm that data services are working by launching the Web browser

NOTE: It can take up to 4 hours to complete the activation process and for your phone to begin working. If the provisioning process does not complete within 5 hours, contact us.
