To install and run your Sprint 3G/4G USB Modem 250U by Sierra Wireless and accompanying software, your system requires:

The minimum hardware requirements are as follows:

CPU 300 MHz or faster (800 MHz for Windows Vista & Windows 7)

USB port
Hands-Free Programming
As long as your data plan subscription and ESN have been established in the Sprint billing system, you can simply follow these instructions to install the software and click Yes when prompted to activate.
Note: Installation and activation may require you to be logged in with administrative privileges.

Insert the installation CD into the CD-ROM drive; the CD should launch
automatically

Click Setup to continue
-
If autoplay is disabled, go to the CD-ROM drive in Windows Explorer
and click setup.exe (or AppLaunch.exe)

In the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Sprint SmartView
installation window, click Next
-
Accept the License Agreement and click Next
-
Accept the Enable GPS consent and click Next
-
In the Destination Folder window, click Next
-
Click Install to begin installation
-
When the InstallShield Wizard Completed window appears, click Finish
-
You will be prompted to restart your computer; click Yes
-
Connect your 250U USB Modem to your computer's USB port
-
Windows will detect the device and automatically install the necessary device
drivers; the LED indicator on the USB device will light up
-
Wait to proceed until the system tray displays Your devices are ready to use
or Your new hardware is installed and ready to use; this may take a few
minutes
-
While the USB Modem is still inserted into your computer, double-click to open
the Sprint SmartView icon that was installed on the desktop
-
Sprint SmartView will display the following:
-
Initializing Please Wait
-
Hands Free Activation Started. Please Wait…
-
Device is Restarting
-
No Devices Available.
-
Searching for Networks
-
Mobile Radio Off
-
Ready: Sprint 3G
-
Hands-Free Activation will complete, and you will automatically connect and be
welcomed to the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network

In Sprint SmartView, you can click the Switch to 4G button to
disconnect from the 3G network and search for the 4G network (and vice versa
to reconnect to 3G)

After clicking Switch to 4G, if you are in 4G coverage, Sprint
SmartView will display Searching for Networks, followed by Ready:
Sprint 4G and you can click Connect
Note: Make sure Sprint SmartView is up-to-date with all of the latest enhancements:

While connected to the Sprint Network, go to the Sprint SmartView menu
-
Click Tools > Check for application updates now
-
Accept and install updates
Manual Programming
If the steps above are unsuccessful, follow these steps:
-
Open Sprint SmartView and make sure it is at the forefront by mousing
over it and clicking on it; also make sure Sprint SmartView is scanning for
Sprint 3G, not 4G. If necessary, click Switch to 3G if it is currently
displaying Switch to 3G.

Type ##MSL# on the keyboard; the characters you type will not display
on the screen

The Activation Wizard will appear; click Next
-
Enter MSL into Activation Code field, then click Next
-
Enter Phone Number (MDN) into Phone number (MDN) field
-
Enter MSID into MSID (IMSI_I) field
-
Verify your Phone Number and MSID are correct and click Next
-
Click Yes
-
Programming will begin
-
After programming is complete, your 250U USB Modem should be ready for use by
clicking Connect

While connected to the Sprint Network, go to the Sprint SmartView menu

Click Tools > Check for application updates now
