Program your Sprint 4G Desktop Modem

Last Updated: Nov 19, 2013

Note: Providing that the data plan subscription and Mac ID have been established in the Sprint billing system, the device will activate automatically when you connect it to your computer.

System Requirements

To install and use the Modem, the following are required:

  • Modem is in a 4G coverage area
  • A supported operating system: Microsoft Windows® 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista® or Windows 7; MAC OS X version 10.4x or later (Tiger, Leopard or later); OR Linux (Ubuntu)
  • Ethernet port

To activate the Modem:

  1. Rotate the base of the Desktop Modem to be in a perpendicular position, and then stand it upright on a flat surface
  2. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the Desktop Modem and the other end to the Ethernet port on your computer
  3. Insert the round end of the power cord into the Desktop Modem's power connector and plug the other end into a power source (the Modem will power up and search for a network signal)
    • All lights light up, and then the center light will blink indicating the device is activating
    • While the device is searching for service, the LEDs will light in a chase pattern (one by one)
    • Once an acceptable signal is located, the signal strength indicators will blink in unison until the device is registered
    • Once the device has registered on the 4G network, the device will display the LEDs according to the signal strength; the more lights that are lit, the stronger the signal
  4. Ensure the Desktop Modem is positioned so that at least 2 lights are constantly lit
  5. Open your computer's Web browser and connect to the Internet
