Program your Touch by HTC

Last Updated: Nov 18, 2013

You can use these programming instructions if you have a new phone or a used phone activated by a previous owner, and you have completed the Activate your new phone process in My Sprint. If so, you should refer to the page you printed showing the codes you need for these instructions to work.

Follow the steps below to program your phone.

  1. Find the Electronic Serial Number (ESN) on your phone. The ESN can be found in two places:
    • Turn off your phone and remove the battery; the ESN appears on the right side of the barcode sticker.
    • On a barcode sticker labeled ESN-DEC on the end of the box.
  2. From the HTC Touch Dial Pad screen, press Menu and then select Device Information.
  3. The ESN displays the Device Information screen. Press OK to return to the dial pad.
    • Note: If your phone is off, press and hold the Power/End key to turn the phone on (the Power/End key is red and located on the right side of the phone directly under the display screen). Press the Phone key to display the dial pad.
  4. If you have a new phone that has never been activated, press ## followed by the one-time 6-digit code located in the Programming Instructions section of the Activate your new phone page, followed by an additional #. Example: ##123456#. The last # entered will not show on the display.
    • If you have a previously activated phone, press ## followed by the secondary 6-digit code located in the Programming Instructions section of the Activate your new phone page, followed by an additional #. Example: ##123456#. (The last # entered will not show on the display.)
  5. From the EPST menu, click the Edit button.
  6. Click the MDN field to select it, click Menu and then click Edit.
  7. Enter the 10-digit MDN using the virtual keyboard.
    • Note: To enter numbers, press abc once to switch to the number pad. In this example, 0000003926 was used. Click OK.
  8. Click to select MSID, click Menu and then click Edit.
  9. Enter the 10-digit MSID using the virtual keyboard; click OK.
  10. Confirm you entered the correct MDN and MSID numbers, click Menu and then click OK.
  11. A verification prompt appears; click Yes.
  12. A reset dialog box appears; click OK.

Note: It can take up to 4 hours to complete the activation process and for your phone to work. Contact us if the provisioning process does not complete within 5 hours.

Note: After activation is complete, check out Software Downloads to get the latest free software for your phone.
