Program your Z400 by Samsung

You can use these programming instructions if you have a new phone or a used phone activated by a previous owner, and you have completed the Activate your new phone process in My Sprint. If so, you should refer to the page you printed showing the codes you need for these instructions to work.

To program your phone:

NOTE: If you have already entered the MEID in the Activate your new phone page online, skip to Step 2.

  1. Find the Mobile Equipment Identification Number (MEID) on your phone. You can find it in two places:
    • Underneath the battery in the phone on the right side of the barcode sticker: Turn off the phone and remove the battery to view. After viewing, place the battery back into the phone.
    • The barcode sticker on the end of the original box: Labeled DEC-HEX.
  2. If necessary, turn your phone on by pressing and holding the red END button. The device will power on and perform a hands-free activation. This may take a few minutes.
  3. When you receive the activation completed message on your phone, you can make voice, data and Direct Connect® calls.

NOTE: If you received the message Your activation could not be completed. Please try again later, do the following:

  1. Press the Menu/OK button to access the main menu, and then select Settings.
  2. Select More > Data > Update Data Profile.
  3. Turn the phone off, and then turn it back on again.
  4. If the phone is still not working, continue with the next step.

    NOTE: The following steps assume you started the activation process online and that you printed or have access to the Programming Instructions page.

  5. If you have a new phone, a phone that has never been activated, follow the instructions below:
    • Press ## followed by the one-time 6-digit code, located in the Programming Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page, followed by an additional #. (Example 6-digit code: ##123456#. The last # entered will not show on the display.)
  6. If you have a previously activated phone, a phone that is new to you but not brand new, follow the instructions below:
    • Press ## followed by the secondary 6-digit code, located in the Programming Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page, followed by an additional #. (Example 6-digit code: ##123456#. The last # entered will not show on the display.)
  7. In the MDN Service Program screen, select Edit.
  8. Enter your 10-digit phone number from the Programming Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page.
  9. Select OK.
  10. Enter the 10-digit MSID number from the Programming Instructions section on the Activate your new phone page.
  11. Select OK.
  12. Select Done. The phone will automatically turn off and then turn back on again.
  13. After the phone restarts, programming will be complete. Expect to wait up to four hours for your phone to be ready for regular use.
  14. After four hours, press the Menu/OK button to access the main menu, and then select Web to complete the activation of the Web and Nextel Direct Connect® service.

NOTE: It can take up to four hours to complete the activation process and for your phone to begin working. If the provisioning process does not complete within five hours, contact us.
