Troubleshoot charging issues on your Apple iPhone 5c

This article helps troubleshoot charging issues on your Apple iPhone 5c.

You may have charging issues if your Apple iPhone 5c:

  • Doesn't charge
  • Charges slowly

Try each of these steps if your phone has charging issues.

  1. Verify that your phone and charging port are not damaged.

    1. Carefully inspect your phone to be sure it's not overheating, swollen or damaged.
    2. Carefully inspect your phone's charging port and remove any debris.

    Caution: If your phone is damaged, do not complete the remaining steps in this guide. Make an appointment at a convenient Sprint Repair center.

  2. Verify that your Apple iPhone 5c can power on.

    1. Turn your phone on.
      • If your Apple iPhone 5c does not turn on, make an appointment at a convenient Sprint Repair center.
  3. Verify that your charger is working.

    Connect your phone to your charger and see if the charging icon displays.

    Note: You risk severe damage to your phone if the charger isn't the same voltage, amps, and plug type as your original charger. You can purchase compatible chargers on sprint.com and at any Sprint Store.

  4. Verify that your Apple iPhone 5c is running the most recent software.

    1. From the home screen, tap Settings.
    2. Scroll to and tap General.
    3. Tap Software Update.
      • If an update is available, follow the prompts to install.
  5. Perform a soft reset.

    A soft reset restarts your phone and does not erase any of your content or data.

    1. From the home screen, press and hold the Power key and Home key.
    2. Release the keys when the Apple logo appears.
    3. Your Apple iPhone 5c restarts.
