Troubleshoot charging issues on your Kyocera KONA

This article helps troubleshoot charging issues on your Kyocera KONA.

You may have charging issues if your Kyocera KONA™

  • Doesn't charge
  • Charges slowly

Try each of these steps if your phone has charging issues.

  1. Verify that your phone, charging port, and battery contacts are not damaged.

    1. Carefully inspect your phone to be sure it's not overheating, swollen or damaged.
    2. Carefully inspect your phone's charging port and remove any debris.
    3. Remove the battery.
    4. Carefully clean and inspect the gold contacts on both the battery and on your phone.

    Caution: If your phone is damaged, dial *2 on your phone or dial 855-639-4644 to reach Sprint Prepaid Customer Care. .

  2. Verify that your Kyocera KONA can power on.

    1. Turn your phone on.
      • If your Kyocera KONA does not turn on, dial *2 on your phone or dial 855-639-4644 to reach Sprint Prepaid Customer Care.
  3. Verify that your charger is working.

    Connect your phone to your charger and see if the charging icon displays.

    Note: You risk severe damage to your phone if the charger isn't the same voltage, amps, and plug type as your original charger. You can purchase compatible chargers on sprint.com.

  4. Verify that your Kyocera KONA is running the most recent software.

    There may be a software update that improves battery life on your phone. Check for software updates.
  5. Perform a soft reset.

    A soft reset restarts your phone and does not erase any of your content or data.

    1. Turn your phone off.
    2. Remove the battery. After 10 seconds, reinsert the battery.
    3. Turn your phone back on.
