Troubleshoot common issues on your HTC EVO 4G

This article lists common troubleshooting steps that resolve most issues on your HTC EVO 4G.

  • Soft reset
  • Update the data profile
  • Uninstall an application
  • Update the software

These steps resolve most issues on your HTC EVO™ 4G and do not need to be performed in any particular order.

  1. Perform a soft reset.

A soft reset refreshes your network connection and deletes any temporary files that may be causing the issue.

    1. Press and hold the Power key, and then tap Power off to turn your HTC EVO 4G off.
    2. Remove the battery. After 30 seconds, reinsert the battery.
    3. Press and hold the Power key to turn your HTC EVO 4G back on.
    4. Test your device to see if the issue is resolved.
  2. Update the data profile.

Updating the data profile refreshes your data service parameters and may resolve issues related to data connectivity.

    1. Update the data profile.
    2. Test your device to see if the issue is resolved.
  3. Uninstall an application.

If the issue started occurring after you downloaded an application, uninstalling that application may resolve the issue.

    1. Uninstall the application.
    2. Test your device to see if the issue is resolved.
  4. Update the software.

Some issues may be due to the current software on your HTC EVO 4G. Software updates are occasionally released to fix these types of issues.

    1. Check for software updates.
    2. Test your device to see if the issue is resolved.
If these common troubleshooting steps did not resolve your issue, proceed to the issue-specific troubleshooting guides in the Learn about it section of the HTC EVO 4G Support page.
