Troubleshoot common issues on your Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200

Performing the following steps can help you resolve some of the more common device issues that you may experience with your Novatel Wireless MiFi™ 2200.

  • Ensure active on your account
  • Check and update device software
  • Battery fully charged
  • Update the PRL

Verify the device is active on your account

To validate your MiFi 2200 is active on your account:

  1. Sign in to your account at by entering your username and password
  2. Confirm that the MiFi 2200 device is on your account with a Mobile Broadband connection plan

If you don't see it listed, you will need to contact us to complete set up of the device on your account. Have the following available before calling:

  • Your Sprint account information
  • The ESN number of your device (displayed on the back of the device and on the packaging)

Find and update your device software

Just like a computer, the software on your device needs to be updated periodically to make sure you have all the latest fixes and enhancements to keep it running at optimal performance. Check your current version and perform any needed software updates.

Battery level

The battery must be fully charged before using the MiFi 2200 for the first time. This will take at a minimum 2.5 hours. After the initial use and set-up, you may use with the battery alone or with the battery and the AC power.

Check for a PRL update

All PRL updates are provided by Sprint with over the air as requested using the User Interface.

To perform a PRL Update:

  1. Using the browser interface (, navigate to WWAN > Configuration > PRL Update
  2. Your MiFi will disconnect from the 3G Network and download the current PRL
  3. The action will always load the current PRL posted on the Sprint network regardless of PRL on the device. If you have the latest PRL it will be refreshed with the server version.
