You may experience the following issue with your Overdrive™ 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot.
Lower throughput may be observed on older laptops running Windows XP and using Wi-Fi. This issue is not typically observed on Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Mac computers.
Using your Overdrive in a tethered mode to your computer with the USB to Micro B cable may improve the performance.
This is a known issue, and there are ways to improve performance by changing the Wi-Fi settings based on the manufacturer of your Wi-Fi network adapter, such as:
To optimize your Windows XP settings
Note: The settings below are often controlled by 3rd-party, value-add applications and may be automatically changed. If your Wi-Fi performance improves for a while after performing the steps below, but then declines, recheck the settings to make sure they match those below.
For Intel Wi-Fi Products
For Atheros Wi-Fi Products
For Broadcom Wi-Fi Products
1. Click the Advanced tab
2. Set Minimum Power Consumption to Disabled
3. Set Power Save Mode to Disabled
For Other Wi-Fi Chipsets
For other Wi-Fi chipsets, select a configuration with minimal power savings to maximize throughput.
