Troubleshoot issues related to apps on your Blackberry Curve 8530

Last Updated: Nov 15, 2013

This article helps troubleshoot malfunctioning applications on your BlackBerry Curve 8530.

You may have an unstable application if it:
  • Doesn't open
  • Crashes frequently
  • Freezes or doesn't respond
  • Displays error messages

These steps help identify and resolve the underlying cause. After completing each step, test to see if the issue is fixed. If not, continue to the next step.

  1. Perform a soft reset.

A soft reset deletes any temporary files that may be causing the issue.

    1. Press and hold the Power key to turn your BlackBerry® Curve™ 8530 off.
    2. Remove the battery. After 30 seconds, reinsert the battery.
    3. Press and hold the Power key to turn your BlackBerry Curve 8530 back on.
    4. Test your phone to see if the issue is resolved.

  2. Uninstall and reinstall the application.

A complete application uninstall removes all related files, settings, and data from your BlackBerry Curve 8530. After the uninstall, reinstall it to try to fix any download errors and to be sure you have the latest software version of the application.

    Uninstall the application.

    Download and reinstall the application.

Note: To optimize device performance, be sure your BlackBerry Curve 8530 is running the most recent device software. Upgrade the device software.
