Troubleshoot battery life

This article helps you troubleshoot battery life issues on your HTC EVO 4G.

You may have battery life issues if your HTC EVO™ 4G battery:

  • Consistently displays low charge
  • Drains quickly

These steps help identify and resolve the underlying cause. After completing each step, test to see if the issue is fixed. If not, continue to the next step.

  1. Change the power settings using Sprint Zone to increase battery life on your HTC EVO 4G.

    1. Access Sprint Zone.
    2. Tap Help.
    3. Tap I Need Help.
    4. Tap Power Configuration.
    5. Tap Low Power Configuration.
    6. Tap Apply.
    7. If the Low Power Configuration setting disables a feature you are using such as Wi-Fi or Sync, tap the feature to turn it back on.

You can also manually adjust power settings.

  2. Verify the battery is not damaged.

    1. Press and hold the Power key, and then tap Power off to turn your HTC EVO 4G off.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Carefully inspect the battery to be sure it's not overheating, swollen or damaged. These are signs that the battery needs to be replaced and may be the cause of your issue.
    4. If the battery appears damaged, don't reinsert it into your HTC EVO 4G.
    5. Find the nearest Sprint Repair center and schedule an appointment so a Sprint technician can check out your device.

Note: To optimize device performance, be sure your HTC EVO 4G is running the most recent device software. Check for software updates.
