Troubleshoot issues related to your Motorola PHOTON 4G not turning on completely

Last Updated: Dec 21, 2012

This article helps troubleshoot your Motorola PHOTON 4G not turning on completely.

You may have this issue if your device:

  • Doesn't turn on the touchscreen, despite pressing and holding the power button
  • Begins to load but restarts or shuts down before the loading process completes

These steps help identify and resolve the underlying cause. After completing each step, test to see if the issue is fixed. If not, continue to the next step.

  1. Perform a soft reset.

A soft reset deletes any temporary files that may be interfering with your device's ability to turn on completely.

    1. Press and hold the Power key to turn your Motorola PHOTON™ 4G off.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Carefully inspect the battery while it's out and verify that it isn't overheating, swollen or damaged. These are signs that the battery needs to be replaced and may be the cause of the issue.
      • If the battery appears damaged, don't reinsert it into your Motorola PHOTON 4G.
      • Please find the nearest Sprint Repair center and schedule an appointment so a Sprint technician can check out your device.
    4. After 30 seconds, reinsert the battery.
    5. Press the Power key to turn your Motorola PHOTON 4G back on.
    6. Test your phone to see if the issue is resolved.

  2. Verify that your Motorola PHOTON 4G is fully charged.

If the battery charge is low, it may prevent your Motorola PHOTON 4G from turning on completely.

    1. Connect your Motorola PHOTON 4G to the charger that came with it.
    2. While charging, verify that the charging indicator displays.
    3. If the indicator doesn't display, the battery or the charger may not be working properly. A Sprint technician can identify the issue and discuss a solution.
