Troubleshoot issues related to your Samsung M400 not turning on completely

Last Updated: May 16, 2014

This article helps troubleshoot your Samsung M400 not turning on completely.

You may have this issue if your device:
  • Doesn't turn on the screen, despite pressing and holding the power button
  • Begins to load but restarts or shuts down before the loading process completes

These steps help identify and resolve the underlying cause. After completing each step, test to see if the issue is fixed. If not, continue to the next step.

  1. Perform a soft reset.

A soft reset deletes any temporary files that may be interfering with your device's ability to turn on completely.

    1. Press and hold the Power key to turn your Samsung M400™ off.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Carefully inspect the battery while it's out and verify that it isn't overheating, swollen or damaged. These are signs that the battery needs to be replaced and may be the cause of the issue.
      • If the battery appears damaged, don't reinsert it into your Samsung M400.
      • Please make an appointment at a nearby Sprint Repair center for more help.
    4. After 30 seconds, reinsert the battery.
    5. Press and hold the Power key to turn your Samsung M400 back on.
    6. Test your device to see if the issue is resolved.

  2. Verify that your Samsung M400 is fully charged.

If the battery charge is low, it may prevent your Samsung M400 from turning on completely.

    1. Connect your Samsung M400 to the charger that came with it.
    2. While charging, verify that the charging indicator displays.
    3. If the indicator doesn't display, the battery or the charger may not be working properly. A Sprint technician can identify the issue and discuss a solution.
    4. Please make an appointment at a nearby Sprint Repair center for more help.

If you're still having issues, make an appointment at a nearby Sprint Repair center for more help.
