Unsubscribe or opt-out from a Premium Text Messaging service

Last Updated: Oct 19, 2011

All premium messaging services are required to have keywords that allow you to opt-out of the service at your convenience. These keywords are usually communicated during the sign up process and periodically via text message.

STOP, END, QUIT, CANCEL or UNSUBSCRIBE are keywords that can be used to unsubscribe via text messaging.

To unsubscribe:

  1. Locate the 5 to 6 digit number or premium service identifier called a short code listed on the from line in the text message sent to your phone.
  2. Send a text message to the short code by replying to the text message or by entering the short code in the to field of a new text message. Enter a keyword like STOP in the body of the text.
  3. You should receive a text message confirming your cancellation.

You could also call the Premium Messaging provider if you would rather speak to an agent on the phone or if you do not receive a text message confirming your cancellation. You may locate the toll-free number for the Premium Service Provider within the text message sent to you for the service or by going to the web site where you ordered the premium service.

You can also text the word HELP to the short code to receive the Premium Service Provider's customer care phone number and information about the service.
