What is Unlimited, My Way Student Promotion?

Effective 11/15/2013 in select Best Buy stores and 11/18/2013 nationally, Sprint and Best Buy have come together to launch Unlimited, My Way with Student Promotion, which gives students up to 12 months of free talk, text and 1GB data on the Unlimited, My Way plan with the purchase of a smartphone. That’s a savings of up to $70 a month off the base monthly rate charge!

Students preferring a basic phone can also get 12 months of free talk and text with blocked data for a savings of $50 a month. 

All students can add unlimited data for an additional $10/mo. All lines can enjoy unlimited talk, text and data while on the Sprint network with the Sprint Unlimited Guarantee — not just for now, but for life.  There is no service agreement with the Unlimited, My Way student phone line.

Also, for every additional new phone line of service (referral lines) activated on Unlimited, My Way or My All-in on the account with the student line at Best Buy, the account gets an additional 12 months of free talk, text and 1GB data for the student lines to share. Only student lines share free service.

How do I know if I qualify for this promotion?

Within the offer period of 11/15/2013-1/04/2014, the student line must meet the following qualifications:

  • Purchase a phone at Best Buy at the student-activated price
  • Activate phone at time of purchase on Unlimited My Way with Student Promotion
  • Account holder must validate student  within 14 days of phone activation date

What devices are eligible for Unlimited, My Way Student Promotion?

All Sprint smartphones and basic phones are eligible for this offer.

Is Unlimited, My Way Student Promotion available with unlimited data?

The Unlimited, My Way with Student Promotion plan includes unlimited talk, text and 1GB of data a month (additional data above 1GB: 1.5¢/MB); blocked data on basic phones. All student lines can add unlimited data for $10/mo.

What is the definition of a student?

A student is defined as the following: part-time, full-time or vocational students enrolled in a U.S.-based elementary, middle school, high school, college, university or other accredited institute.

For students younger than 13, parental consent is required at time of validation.

What documents are required to verify my student status?

Sprint will accept the following items via fax or online:

  • Valid report card from current school year
  • Student ID
  • Enrollment confirmation/tuition receipt for current school year
  • Report card from current school year
  • Required state documents if home-schooled

How do I verify my student status?

Please note, the promotion has expired and Sprint is no longer accepting student proof documents.

What happens if I don’t validate my status?

Customers who do not validate within 14 days of student phone activation will be charged regular price for service for Unlimited, My Way ($70/month for unlimited talk, text and 1GB of data; additional $10/month for unlimited data, if applicable).

What if I purchase a discounted device in exchange for a service agreement or enter into a Sprint One Up Installment Agreement?

The Unlimited, My Way Student Promotion is not available to a student who purchases a discounted phone in exchange for a service agreement or enters into a Sprint One Up Installment Agreement. If the student line activates on a discounted phone or enters into a Sprint One Up Installment Agreement while receiving the free service, the line will be charged regular price for service for Unlimited, My Way ($70/month for unlimited talk, text and 1GB of data on smartphones ($50/month on basic phones with blocked data); additional $10/month for unlimited data, if applicable).

Can I add a new student line to my existing account?

Yes; however, all existing lines of service on the account must remain active for at least 90 days from the activation date of the student line for the student offer to remain valid (except in compliance with Sprint’s return policy at www.sprint.com/returns).

Do I have to pay an activation fee?

Yes, a fee of $36 per line applies to each activation.

What is the return and exchange policy for Unlimited, My Way Student Promotion?

Customers will be subject to Best Buy’s return and exchange policy for their phone purchase. The service on the line will be subject to Sprint’s return policy (www.sprint.com/returns).

Can I add more than one student line to an account?

Yes, the offer is limited to 10 total lines per account, depending on qualifying credit.

What happens at the end of the student’s free service?

Sprint will send the account holder a text message 30 days before the completion of free service on the student's line. Upon completion of free service, the student line will be charged regular price for service for Unlimited, My Way ($70/month for unlimited talk, text and 1GB of data on smartphones ($50/month on basic phones with blocked data); additional $10/month for unlimited data, if applicable). To avoid charges, the account holder can terminate the student line by calling Sprint or dialing *2 from their mobile phone before the end of 12 months.

How will my student line appear on the invoice?

The promotion will begin when the student’s phone is activated at Best Buy and will appear as Unltd My Way $0 Student Promo. Students are still subject to activation fees, taxes, surcharges and other fees, including regulatory and administrative fees.

How can I get additional months of Unlimited, My Way Student Promotion?

For every additional new phone line of service (referral lines) activated on Unlimited, My Way or My All-in on the account with the student line at Best Buy, the account gets an additional 12 months of free talk, text and 1GB data for the student lines to share. Only student lines share free service. The additional line must activate during the offer’s promotional period from 11/15/2013 through 1/4/2014 at Best Buy.

How will my referral line appear on my invoice?

Within two to three billing cycles, any referral lines that are activated and have met offer qualifications will be identified on the invoice.

What happens if my referral line cancels?

If any referral line cancels before fulfilling its two-year service agreement, the account loses remaining months of free service available to the students on the account (up to 12 months per referral line).

How are Unlimited, My Way Student Promotion referral months awarded?

The additional months of free service from referral lines are awarded to the account for student lines to share upon completion of the student’s initial 12 months of free service.

What Sprint notifications can customers expect while taking advantage of this promotion?

  • Account holder will receive three text messages as reminders to validate student line(s).
  • Before the promotion is exhausted, account holder will receive a reminder text message.
  • If a student and/or the associated referral violate any terms of the offer, the account holder will receive a text message notification.

Can I get this offer at my local Sprint Store?

No, this promotion is available exclusively at Best Buy stores.

Do I have to pay any taxes or fees?

Yes, you pay Sprint surcharges (including USF charge of up to 15.6% of your charges, up to $2.50 Admin and .40 Reg./line/month) and any taxes and local fees that apply. See www.sprint.com/taxesandfees for details.
