Customer Instructions for Change of Ownership

These instructions are for personal accounts, not business accounts. For transfers involving a business account, please contact Business Care at 800-927-2199. Follow the steps below to transfer an active line of service to a new or different account.


  • The releasing account holder and accepting account holder or authorized point of contact (POC) must complete the online change of ownership request.
  • Personal accounts are those paid by an individual and not a company.
    • To request a change of ownership involving a business account (transfer to or from), contact Business Care at 800-927-2199.
  • Personal identification must be submitted during the online change of ownership request.
    • Acceptable forms of identification include: driver's license, passport or state-authorized ID.
  • If the online request or personal identification is invalid, illegible or incomplete, we will not be able to complete your change of ownership request.
  • Allow 24 business hours for the information to be processed.
  • Both parties must call in together to 855-808-4185 to complete the change of ownership. Hours of operation: Monday through Saturday (8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Central Time).
