Find and update the software version on your Samsung Rant

Just like your computer, the software on your phone needs to be updated periodically to make sure you have all the latest fixes and enhancements to keep it running at optimal performance. Follow the steps below to check your current version and perform any needed updates.

Check the version on your phone
To check the version on your phone, perform the following steps:
- Press the Menu/OK key, select Settings, and then press the Menu/OK key.
- Select Phone Info, and then press the Menu/OK key.
- Select Version, and then press the Menu/OK key. The software version is listed in the format m540.XXXX.
Update your software
To update your phone, perform the following steps:
- Press the Menu/OK key, select Tools, and then press the Menu/OK key.
- Select Update Phone, and then press the Menu/OK key.
- Select Update Firmware, and then press the Menu/OK key. The message Checking for firmware update will appear. Please wait appears.
NOTE: You are prompted to install the update after it is downloaded to the device.
