Program your Palm Treo 800w

Original Post Date: Nov 18, 2013

You can use these programming instructions if you have a new phone or a used phone activated by a previous owner, and you have completed the Activate your new phone process in My Sprint. If so, you should refer to the page you printed showing the codes you need for these instructions to work.

The Palm Treo 800w is One-Touch Activation capable. To automatically program your phone:

NOTE: If you have already started the activation process online from the Activate your new phone page, skip to Step 2.

  1. Find the Electronic Serial Number (ESN) on your phone. There are three places you can find it:
    • Underneath the battery on the phone: Turn your phone off by pressing the red Power/End button, and then remove the battery. The serial number is listed on the phone next to ESN DEC or ESN HEX.
    • By the barcode sticker on the end of the original box: The serial number is labeled ESN DEC or ESN HEX.
    • From the phone screen menu: Select Options > Phone Info. The ESN is displayed on the Phone Info screen along with the Mobile Equipment Identification Number (MEID).
  2. Turn the phone on by pressing and holding the red Power/End key, which is located in the upper-right corner of the device, below the display screen.

NOTE: If this is the first time you are powering on the device, you need to digitize the screen. Once you see the Start/Today screen, continue with the next step.

  3. Press the Start key, which appears as a Microsoft Windows icon located to the right of the green Phone/Talk key.
  4. Tap the Internet Explorer application to start the provisioning.

NOTE: If a Data Cannot Connect message appears, tap Dismiss.

  5. The message Phone Updater - Preparing Vision Services…Please wait appears. Do not interrupt this process. If the screen enters Sleep mode, you can tap the screen to wake up the device. Do not press the Power/End button, as it interrupts the process.

NOTE: Once provisioning is complete, the device returns to Internet Explorer, and the My Palm Treo home page appears.

  6. Press the Start key again to return to the Today screen. Programming is complete.
