Last Updated: Oct 04, 2016

Steps to conserve battery life on your Samsung Galaxy Note Edge

Follow the steps in each of the sections below to configure your phone to use less power:

  • Display settings

Your display typically uses most of your battery power. Adjusting your display settings can significantly improve your battery life:

    1. From the home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Display and wallpaper.
    4. Tap Brightness.
    5. Tap to check or uncheck Automatic brightness as preferred.
    6. If Automatic brightness is unchecked, tap and drag the slider to the preferred brightness level.
    7. Once finished, tap OK.
    8. Tap Screen timeout.
    9. Tap the lowest comfortable setting.
    10. Tap the Back key to return to the Settings menu.
  • Networks

Using a Wi-Fi connection can extend your battery life by up to 50%. However, leaving GPS, Bluetooth® or NFC on when not actively in use can drain the battery faster:

    1. Tap and drag the Notification bar down.
    2. Tap to turn Location and Bluetooth off.
    3. Swipe the icons to the left and tap NFC off.
    4. Note: The icons will be green when the feature is on.

    5. Tap the Back key when finished.
  • Wallpaper

Using a live wallpaper will use extra battery power. Be sure you are using a standard wallpaper:

    1. From the Settings menu, tap Display and wallpaper.
    2. Tap Wallpaper.
    3. Note: To set the wallpaper for the lock screen as well as the home screen, tap Home screen, then tap Home and lock screen.

    4. Scroll to the preferred wallpaper image and tap SET AS WALLPAPER.
    5. Tap the Back key to return to the Settings menu.
  • Synchronization

Setting the phone to sync less information can improve battery life:

    1. From the Settings menu, scroll to and tap Accounts.
    2. Tap the account type.
    3. Tap the account.
    4. Tap to check or uncheck the sync options as preferred.
    5. Tap the Back key three times to return to the Settings menu.
  • Vibration

Turning off vibration can improve battery life:

    1. From the Settings menu, scroll to and tap Sounds and notifications.
    2. To turn vibrate off for ringtones and notifications, tap to uncheck Vibrate when ringing.
    3. To turn vibrate on or off for the system, tap Other sounds.
    4. Tap to uncheck Haptic feedback.
    5. To turn of vibration for the onscreen keyboard, tap to uncheck Vibrate when tapped.
    6. Tap the Back key two times to return to the Settings menu.
  • Battery saver

Your phone has a Battery saver option that will switch your phone into a low-power mode when your battery life drops below a certain level:

    1. From the Settings menu, scroll to and tap Power saving.
    2. Tap Power saving mode.
    3. Tap the switch to ON.
    4. Tap the Back key.

Your phone also has an Ultra power saving mode, which immediately changes your display settings and disables many features in order to save the most power possible.

Note: Sprint recommends only enabling Ultra power saving mode when needed.

    1. To turn on Ultra power saving mode, tap Ultra power saving mode.
    2. Tap the switch to ON.
    3. Read the terms and conditions, then tap to check I have read and agree to all the terms and conditions above.
    4. Tap OK.
    5. Tap Turn on.
  • Closing applications

Applications left running in the background can sometimes use extra battery power:

    1. Tap the Recent Apps key.
    2. Tap and drag applications to the left or right to close them.
    3. To remove all applications from the list, tap the Close all icon.
    4. To close only the active applications, tap the Task Manager icon.
    5. Tap END to close specific applications or tap END ALL to close all background applications.
    6. Tap OK.
    7. Press the Home key to return to your home screen.
