FAQs related to media backup and sync with your Samsung Epic 4G

Last Updated: Oct 04, 2016

Answers to some of your questions about transferring files between your computer and Samsung Epic 4G

  • What is Samsung Kies and what can it do?

Kies is an application for your computer that:

    • Synchronizes your Samsung Epic™ 4G contacts and calendar with Microsoft Outlook®
    • Synchronizes your bookmarks with your computer web browser
    • Moves images, videos, music, playlists and other files to your Samsung Epic 4G

    Download and install Samsung Kies.

  • What is Media Transfer Protocol (MTP)?

MTP is a feature built into the Samsung Epic 4G. It does not require extra software.

After your Samsung Epic 4G is plugged into the computer, it automatically connects using MTP.

After MTP is connected, your Samsung Epic 4G behaves and installs as a storage device. You can then access the memory card and phone storage.

Transfer files to and from your Samsung Epic 4G via a USB cable.

  • What is the role of the memory card?

The memory card is the main storage for your Samsung Epic 4G. Your Samsung Epic 4G also has 1GB internal storage.

When you capture images or video, they automatically save to the memory card. All Internet and application downloads, Bluetooth® file transfers, and most media types automatically save to the memory card as well.

Your Samsung Epic 4G supports microSD cards up to 32GB.

Sprint recommends storing data to your memory card so you can easily transfer the card to another device. Your data is safer if you need to troubleshoot your Samsung Epic 4G.
