Recover contacts on your Motorola XPRT

Steps to recover your saved contacts

Note: You can recover your contacts only if you've previously backed them up.
  • Display options
  • Be sure all of your contacts are visible.

    1. From the home screen, tap the Contacts icon.
    2. Press the Menu key.
    3. Tap Display options.
    4. Under Choose contacts to display, tap to check all of your contact groups.
    5. Tap Save.
    6. You can now see all of your contacts.
  • Memory card

If you saved your contacts to the memory card on either your Motorola XPRT or a previous device, you can recover your contacts.

  1. From the home screen, tap the Contacts icon.
  2. Press the Menu key.
  3. Tap Import/Export.
  4. Tap Import contacts from SD card.
  5. Tap the location where you want to save your contacts and then tap OK.
  6. Your Motorola XPRT automatically searches for contact (vCard) files on the memory card. If the search returns more than one contact file, tap the specific file and tap OK.

  • Google Sync™

Google Sync is a free service that synchronizes your Motorola XPRT with your Google™ (Gmail™) account. If you've saved your contacts to your Google account, you can restore them to your device.

  1. From the home screen, tap the Launcher icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Tap Accounts.
  4. If necessary, tap Add account.
  5. Tap Google.
  6. Tap Next.
  7. Tap Sign in.
  8. Enter your Google account credentials and tap Sign in.
  9. Tap to check or uncheck your preferred sync options.
  10. Tap Finish.
  11. Tap Finish setup.
  12. You've now added the Google account.

Set up a Google account.

  • Bluetooth®

Some Bluetooth-enabled devices have Bluetooth file transfer capabilities. If you stored your contacts on another Bluetooth-enabled device, you can recover your contacts.

  1. Be sure you have Bluetooth enabled on the other device and it's ready to be paired.
  2. From the Motorola XPRT home screen, tap the Launcher icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  4. Tap Wireless & networks.
  5. Tap Bluetooth Settings.
  6. Tap to check Bluetooth if it isn't already checked.
  7. Your device searches for available Bluetooth devices within range. Tap the name of the other device.
  8. If a Bluetooth pairing request displays, verify the passkeys match and tap Pair.
    • If prompted, enter the passkey and tap OK.
    • If you're unsure of the passkey, try entering 0000 or 1234 (the default for most Bluetooth devices).
  9. After you've paired the devices, begin the transfer of contacts from the other device.
  10. After the transfer is complete, open the file on your Motorola XPRT and follow the prompts to load your contacts into your contact list.
  11. Note: Sprint recommends you save your contacts to your Google account.
