Steps to recover your saved contacts

Note: You can recover your contacts only if you've previously backed them up.

    1. From the home screen, tap Contacts.
    2. From the Contacts tab, tap the Menu key.
    3. Tap More.
    4. Tap Display options.
    5. Under Select contacts to display, tap a save location and ensure all options are checked.
    6. Repeat for all saved locations.
    7. You can now see all of your contacts.
  • Memory Card:

If you saved your contacts to the memory card on either your Samsung Epic™ 4G or a previous device, you can recover your contacts.

  1. From the home screen, tap Contacts.
  2. From the Contacts tab, tap the Menu key.
  3. Tap Import/Export.
  4. Tap Import from SD card.
  5. Tap the desired save location.
  6. Your Samsung Epic 4G automatically searches for contact (vCard) files on the memory card. If the search returns more than one contact file, tap the desired option and tap OK.

  • Google Sync™

Google Sync is a free service on for your Samsung Epic 4G that synchronizes contacts, calendar, and email from a Google™ (Gmail™) account. If your contacts are saved to your Google account, you can restore them to your device. Add your Google account to your device and recover your contacts.

  4. Tap Add account.
  5. Tap Google.

Set up a Google account.

  • Bluetooth®

Some Bluetooth-enabled devices have Bluetooth file transfer capabilities. If you stored your contacts on a previous Bluetooth-enabled device, you can recover your contacts.

  1. Be sure you have Bluetooth enabled on the previous device and it is ready to be paired.
  2. From the Samsung Epic 4G home screen, tap the Menu key.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Wireless and network.
  5. Tap Bluetooth settings.
  6. If Bluetooth is off, tap to check Bluetooth.
  7. If needed, tap Search for devices.
  8. Tap the name of the previous device.
  9. If a Bluetooth pairing request displays, verify the passkeys match and tap Accept. Alternatively, if required, enter the passkey and tap OK.
  10. Note: The default passkey for most Bluetooth devices is 0000 or 1234.

  11. After you've paired the devices, begin the transfer of contacts from the previous device.
  12. After the transfer is complete, open the file on your Samsung Epic 4G and follow the prompts to load the contacts into the contact list.

Note: Sprint recommends you save your contacts to your Google account.
