Last Updated: Mar 01, 2017

This article helps troubleshoot audio playback issues on your HTC One.

These steps help identify and resolve the underlying cause. After completing each step, test to see if the issue is fixed. If not, continue to the next step.

  1. Verify the volume is turned up.

The volume for audio playback can be adjusted by pressing the Volume up key during playback.

To verify the volume when audio or video are not playing:

    1. From the home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Scroll to and tap Sound & notification.
    4. Tap Volumes.
    5. Tap the Music & videos slider to adjust the volume.
    6. Tap Done when finished.
  2. Perform a soft reset.

Performing a soft reset will restart your phone.

    1. Press and hold the Power key until your HTC One™ turns off.
    2. Your HTC One restarts.
    3. Test your device to see if the issue is resolved.
  3. Verify the file format of the audio file.

Your phone supports specific audio types, if the audio file is not one of these types, it will not play correctly.

Your HTC One supports the following file extensions:

    • .ogg
    • .wma
    • .mp4
    • .m4a
    • .flac
    • .wav

Note: To optimize device performance, be sure your HTC One is running the most recent device software. Check for software updates.
