Troubleshoot charging issues on your Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

This article helps troubleshoot charging issues on your Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE.

You may have charging issues if your Motorola Photon™ Q 4G LTE

  • Doesn't charge
  • Charges slowly

Try each of these steps if your phone has charging issues.

  1. Verify that your phone and charging port are not damaged.

    1. Carefully inspect your phone to be sure it's not overheating, swollen or damaged.
    2. Carefully inspect your phone's charging port and remove any debris.

    Caution: If your phone is damaged, do not complete the remaining steps in this guide. Make an appointment at a convenient Sprint Repair center.

  2. Verify that your Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE can power on.

    1. Turn your phone on.
      • If your Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE does not turn on, make an appointment at a convenient Sprint Repair center.
  3. Verify that your charger is working.

    Note: You risk severe damage to your phone if the charger isn't the same voltage, amps, and plug type as your original charger. You can purchase compatible chargers on sprint.com and at any Sprint Store.

    1. Connect your phone to your charger.
    2. From within Sprint Zone, swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
    3. Tap Battery Status.
    4. Verify that the Battery Status is Charging.
  4. Verify that your Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE is running the most recent software.

    1. From Device Diagnostics, tap System Updates.
    2. Tap Device Software.
      • If an update is available, follow the prompts to install.
  5. Safely remove your SD card.

    1. From the home screen, tap the All apps icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Storage.
    4. Scroll to and tap Unmount SD card.
    5. Tap OK.
    6. Remove the SD card.
  6. Perform a soft reset.

    A soft reset restarts your phone and does not erase any of your content or data.

    1. Press and hold the Power key and the Volume Down key for 5 seconds to turn off your Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE.
    2. Release the keys, the phone will automatically restart
