Troubleshoot issues related to data connectivity and your R850 Mobile Hotspot

This article helps you troubleshoot data connectivity issues on your R850 Mobile Hotspot

You may have data connectivity issues if you're unable to:

  • Connect to the Internet
  • Browse websites
  • Load Internet content within applications
  • Send or receive email

These steps help identify and resolve the underlying cause. After completing each step, test to see if the issue is fixed. If not, continue to the next step.

  1. Verify mobile data is enabled.

    1. On a computer that is connected to the hotspot network, open the web browser and enter http://MyHotSpot in the address bar.
    2. Press Enter.
    3. On the web management portal screen, click Settings.
    4. If prompted, enter the administrator password and click Login.
    5. Note: The default password is password.

    6. Click Mobile Network to expand the mobile network category.
    7. Click Mobile Settings.
    8. Click ON for Cellular Data.
    9. Click Save Changes.
  2. Update the data profile.

    1. On a computer that is connected to the hotspot network, open the web browser and enter http://MyHotSpot in the address bar.
    2. Press Enter.
    3. On the web management portal screen, click Settings.
    4. If prompted, enter the administrator password and click Login.
    5. Note: The default password is password.

    6. Click Device to expand the device category.
    7. Click Software Update.
    8. Under Device Updates, click to select Update Data Profile, then click Update.
    9. Once the update is complete, click OK if prompted.
  3. Perform a soft reset.

    A soft reset reconnects your R850 Mobile Hotspot to the Sprint network.

    1. With device powered on, remove the battery.
    2. After 10 seconds, reinsert the battery.
    3. Turn your device back on.
  4. Reset your connection to the Sprint network.

    If resetting your connection to the Sprint network doesn't help, contact Sprint Customer Care.

    Note: Resetting your connection does not erase any data from your device.

    1. On a computer that is connected to the hotspot network, open the web browser and enter http://MyHotSpot in the address bar.
    2. Press Enter.
    3. On the web management portal screen, click Settings.
    4. If prompted, enter the administrator password and click Login.
    5. Note: The default password is password.

    6. Click Mobile Network to expand the mobile network category.
    7. Click Advanced.
    8. Under Clear Programming, click Renew Device.
    9. The hotspot will restart and begin Hands Free Activation.

Note: To optimize device performance, be sure your R850 Mobile Hotspot is running the most recent device software. If possible, Check for software updates.
