This article helps troubleshoot displaying no/low signal from the cellular network on your R850 Mobile Hotspot

You may have no/low signal issues if your device:

  • Displays no signal
  • Displays low signal

These steps help identify and resolve the underlying cause. After completing each step, test to see if the issue is fixed. If you have uncovered an issue that you can't fix, make an appointment at a convenient Sprint Repair center or contact Sprint Customer Care for more help.

  1. Verify if coverage is available at your current location.

    If your R850 Mobile Hotspot has low signal strength, see if your location is within Sprint voice coverage on the Sprint coverage map.

    The materials used in the construction of most buildings can interfere with your signal. To test this, try checking your signal while outside.

  2. Reset the device

    • A factory reset will set all of the settings on the device back to the factory defaults, and erase all activation and programming information.
    • After the reset, the hotspot will not function until it has successfully re-activated itself.
    1. With the device powered on, remove the back cover, lifting from the slot on the rear left side of the device.
    2. With the device still powered on, press and hold the Reset key, located at the top right of the device.
    3. Continue holding the Reset key for 5 seconds.
    4. The device will power off and reset.
    5. Once the reset is complete, the device will perform Hands Free Activation.
    6. Once the activation is complete the Wi-Fi hotspot is ready for use.

  3. Do you know if other Sprint customers are experiencing the same issue in the same location?

Note: To optimize device performance, be sure your R850 Mobile Hotspot is running the most recent device software. If possible, Check for software updates.
