Troubleshoot issues related to email on your LG Volt

This article helps troubleshoot email issues on your LG Volt.

You may have email issues if you're unable to:

  • Send emails
  • Receive emails

These steps help identify and resolve the underlying cause. After completing each step, test to see if the issue is fixed. If not, continue to the next step.

  1. Verify mobile data is enabled.

    1. From the home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Verify if the switch for Mobile data is ON.
  2. Verify your LG Volt is connected to the Sprint data network using Sprint Zone.

    1. From the home screen, tap the All Apps icon, then tap Sprint Zone.
    2. Swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
    3. Look for Data Network:
      • Data Network is in the Passed section: Your phone is connected to the Sprint data network.
      • Data Network is in the Failed or Flagged section: Update the Data Profile.
        1. From Device Diagnostics, tap Data Network.
        2. Tap Update Profile.
        3. After the update is complete, tap OK.

If your LG Volt still can't connect to data, troubleshoot data connectivity.

  3. Verify that the email address and password are correct.

On your LG Volt web browser, navigate to your email provider's website and try to sign in to your email account.

If you're unable to sign in, double-check that you entered the correct username and password.

If you recently updated your email account password, you also have to update the email settings on your LG Volt.

  4. Double-check that you have set up your email account correctly on your LG Volt.

Be sure that you've entered the exact settings for each email account you want to access. The instructions are different depending on the type of email account you're trying to set up.

    • For a personal email address:

This is the most common scenario and includes all major public email providers such as Yahoo!®, Hotmail®, Gmail™, and AOL®.

      1. If you've already set up the email address on your LG Volt, try removing it from your phone to delete any incorrect settings.
      2. Removing your email account doesn't delete any of your emails, it only removes the link to your account for now.

        1. From the email inbox, tap the Menu key.
        2. Tap Settings.
        3. Tap the account to remove.
        4. Scroll to and tap Remove account.
        5. Tap Yes.

      3. Add your email account to your LG Volt.
    • For a business email address via Microsoft Exchange™:

Sprint recommends that you contact your IT department for the correct setup information. You'll need your server address, domain, username, and your corporate password.

      1. From the home screen, tap Apps.
      2. Swipe left or right and tap Email.
      3. Enter your Email address and Password, then tap Next.
      4. If your email settings are found:
        1. Modify the account options as you prefer, then tap Next.
        2. Enter your name, then tap Done.
      5. If your email settings are not found:
        1. Tap Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
        2. Tap Edit details.
        3. Confirm that the Domain/username, Password, and Exchange server are correct.
        4. Tap to check the SSL options if necessary.
        5. Tap Next.
        6. Modify the account options as you prefer, then tap Next.
        7. Enter your name, then tap Done.

If your Exchange account still doesn't work, contact your corporate IT department for more help.

  5. Perform a soft reset.

A soft reset reconnects your LG Volt to the Sprint network.

    1. Turn your phone off.
    2. Remove the battery. After 10 seconds, reinsert the battery.
    3. Turn your phone back on.

Note: To optimize device performance, be sure your LG Volt is running the most recent device software. Check for software updates.

If you're still having issues, dial *2 on your phone or dial 855-639-4644 to reach Sprint Prepaid Customer Care.
