Troubleshoot shortened battery life on your Moto X Pure Edition

Last Updated: Aug 03, 2016

This article helps you troubleshoot battery life issues on your Moto X Pure Edition

You may have battery issues if:

  • Your Moto X Pure Edition consistently displays a low charge
  • The battery drains quickly

Try each of these steps to see if it helps your charge last longer.

  1. Change the power settings.

You can improve battery life by adjusting the power settings on your phone.

  2. Close background applications.

Some apps continue to run in the background after you exit them. Sprint recommends that you close background applications when you're not using them.

  3. Verify that your Moto X Pure Edition is running the most recent software.

There may be a software update that improves battery life on your phone. Check for software updates.

  4. Safely remove your SD card.

    1. From the home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Tap Storage & USB.
    4. Tap the Eject icon next to the name of the SD card.
    5. Remove the SD card.
  5. Perform a soft reset.

A soft reset restarts your phone and does not erase any of your content or data.

    1. Press and hold the Power key until the screen goes blank, about 10 seconds.
  6. Verify that your charger is working.

Note: You risk severe damage to your phone if the charger isn't the same voltage, amps, and plug type as your original charger. You can purchase compatible chargers on sprint.com and at any Sprint Store.

    1. Connect your phone to your charger and see if the charging icon displays.

If you still have a battery issue, try the Sprint Community pages, review these FAQs, or make an appointment at a convenient Sprint Repair center.
