Troubleshoot when your R850 Mobile Hotspot doesn't turn on

This article helps troubleshoot your R850 Mobile Hotspot not turning on

You may have this issue if your R850 Mobile Hotspot:

  • Doesn't turn on
  • Starts to turn on but restarts or shuts down before it turns on completely

Try each of these steps if your device doesn't turn on.

  1. Verify that your R850 Mobile Hotspot has a sufficient charge.

    1. Connect your original charger to your device.
    2. After a few minutes, press and hold the Power key to power the device on.
  2. Verify that your device, charging port, and battery contacts are not damaged.

    1. Carefully inspect your device's charging port and remove any debris.
    2. Carefully inspect the battery to be sure it's not overheating, swollen or damaged.
    3. Remove the battery.
    4. Carefully clean and inspect the gold contacts on both the battery and on your device.

    If your device is damaged, do not complete the remaining steps in this guide. Contact Sprint Customer Care.

  3. Verify that you are using a compatible charger.

    You risk severe damage to your device if the charger isn't the same voltage, amps, and plug type as your original charger. You can purchase compatible chargers on sprint.com and at any Sprint Store.

  4. Attempt a hardware factory reset.

    If all else fails, a factory reset of the device could resolve the issue.

    A factory reset will reset all settings on the device back to the factory defaults.

    Perform a factory reset via hardware.
