Last Updated: Aug 03, 2016

This article helps troubleshoot your R850 Mobile Hotspot slowing, freezing, or turning off unexpectedly

You may have performance issues if your R850 Mobile Hotspot:

  • Performs slowly
  • Freezes
  • Turns off or unexpectedly restarts

Try each of these steps to see if it helps improve your device's performance.

  1. Perform a soft reset.

A soft reset restarts your device and does not erase any of your content or data.

    1. With the device powered on, remove the battery.
    2. After 10 seconds, reinsert the battery.
    3. Turn your device back on.
  2. Verify that your R850 Mobile Hotspot is running the most recent software.

There may be a software update that improves the stability your device. Check for software updates.

  3. Make sure that the device is in a good location.

If the mobile network signal is low on the R850 Mobile Hotspot, or if devices connected via Wi-Fi have low Wi-Fi signal, the connection could be slow or freeze.

    • The R850 Mobile Hotspot displays the mobile network signal bars on the home screen.
    • If the mobile network signal is low, move the hotspot to a location with better signal, such as near a window.
    • Electrical appliances can interfere with mobile network signal. Avoid placing the hotspot near electrical appliances.
    • If the connecting device(s) have low Wi-Fi signal, try to relocate the hotspot closer to the devices.
  4. Factory reset the device.

If all else fails, a factory reset of the device could resolve the issue.

A factory reset will reset all settings on the device back to the factory defaults.

Perform a factory reset via hardware.
